Hay people,
I did use the search button and I couldn't find any information. Anyhoo, I have a 1995 Teg/sedan and the passenger front door speakers needs to be replaced.
I spoke with two stereo places near me, and both tell me that I need 6 1/2 inch speakers. The thing is, I went out and measured them today and unless I'm not measuring correctly, I get 6 1/4 for both front door speakers.
I need two things, if someone would please chime in and hit me with the right measurement and chime in with some information on what are the best speakers to go with as long as they’re not really expensive. I’ve been seeing some on the web from $28~$37 delivered. The adds say they go from $70~$120 retail.
One more thing, are the speackers a simple install or do I need to take it to a stereo place and have them do the install? I'd rather do it my self and save the money, but if it needs to go to a stereo place, o'well...
Peace

speakers are easy to install, just undo the screws and unplug the - /+ plug from the back of the speakers and swap in the new one and screw it in.. as far as brand of speakers go, in my opinion they're all the same... (with the exception of kragen or autozone speakers) i've went with all kinds of major name brands never could tell the difference, nor could anyone in my car either.. i currently have sony xplods in mine. theyr'e decent.
Buy speakers off ebay, I just got some pioneers that were $110 on crutchfield for $50 on ebay brand new. Pull off the speaker cover take then out and hook up the new ones piece of cake.
You are right the opening is not 6.5" but standard 6.5" speakers fit. Go with Pioneer coaxials at least. They are not expensive at all.

crxma22, cool, I do the install myself then. If it's as easy as you say it is, I souldn't have any problems.
tegG2, I'll check out e-bay before I make a purchase.
94_DC4, OK, but, the opening was not what I measured, it was the origianl Acura speaker that measured out at 6 1/4. So, what your implying is that even though the original speaker measures at 6 1/4, the 6 1/2 will fit right in without any modifacation?
Hay y'all, Thanx for chiming in so fast to my questions. One more thought, have you guys heard of Power Acustik XP2K653 6 1/2 inch 3 way full range speakers and the Power Acustik PR163 6 1/2 inch 3 way speakers.
If so, are they any good? I don't know nothing about speakers and the like. So, sorry for all the dum questions...

its a 6.5" speaker any 6.5 should fit, the reason yours measures 6.25 is because its differenty manufactures have different mounting tabs or plates. some 6.5's are 6.6 inch's, its a 6.5 just get that size, no mod needed, unless you buy some really deep ones that hit window, make sure it fits in with window rolled all the way down.

twentyhurtz, thanx for the heads up! Takes a load off my mind knowing I won't have to pay those extravagant or feel like I'm being extorted prices to them stereo install places.
Now I just have to look around and see what brand of speaker to purchase. I'm thinking of going with Pioneer. Is anyone familiar with the Pioneer TS-D161R? There's a link below to check it out.
I'm wondering if the tweeter may stick out too far to fit the speaker cover over it. From what I'm hearing, it should fit in the door just right, but I'm not sure how far the tweeter sticks out.
I'd be thatful for any aid in this matter of urgency, as I'm without sounds in my Teggy Girl...
