Default custom mouted 4"?????

I was looking at some of the component kits that come with a 4" mid driver. number 1, do they produce sound thats worth it or is it better just to stay with the 6 1/2 + 1? if i did go with one kit that has the 4"er where would be the best place to mount it? and last, where do you think i should mount the tweeter?

Stick with the 6.5" components, mount tweeters to the power mirror trim covers or make pods for them there, or pick up a set of stock tweeter housings/grills and mount tweeters there, [where ever that is. 94

Why mount them up so high? That would destroy his image.

I'd get the 3 way component set and mount the 4" and 1" in the kickpanel (with custom fabrication or prefabbed ones...), and leave the 6.5" in the factory location.

Ideally the tweeter should be mounted as close to woofer as possible, [or woofer as close to tweeter as possible] and both as far in front of you as possible to cut down the distance % difference between the drivers and pass. sides, so ideally a kick panel pod would be the best, [lots of custom work] next best thing would be a "point source" type speaker where the tweeter is post mounted at the bottom center of the woofer cone, this is like a coax but with better quality woofer/tweeter and x-over, something like the Eclipse 6.5" point source... http://www.eclipse-web.com/point/sp6500.html however in your case if you want to use "separates" then the easiest way, [and the one that does the least damage] is to use a standard 6.5" and mount the tweeter to the least expensive part of the car to replace, [if you had to]. 94

If you mount it down low together with the woofer, your image will be lower, which is not great, but ok. If you mount it away from the woofer that high, then you will split your channel into 2 sources, and now all of a sudden your highs seem to originate from a different stage than your mid and bass, because highs are much closer to you. Not only that, but your image will heavily shift to the left, since you've massively increased the difference in distance between your left and right front speakers. The ideal would be to have them at the same distance from you. Normally you would use time alignment to balance out each speaker. But since having 2 sound sources per side, it will be impossible to delay and even out your speakers. Best thing to do here is get a coaxial set OR get a 2-way component set and make a hole in the door panel near the woofer to accomodate the tweeter OR build/buy custom kick panel pods.

i don't mind hacking up the car, i just want it to look good and as stock as possible. flush mount, with the grill color matching the interior which i cant see being hard at all. i think there could be a little room in there to mount a tweeter without having to cut a visible hole. ill update when i find out thank
