I am going to do an oil and filter change for the first time on my type-r that I have had for 2 months and was just wondering what to use. I saw the old thread on this from 2001 and I think most people suggested Mobile 5W30 with a Mobile 1 oil filter. What do you guys use?

 

Search function is your friend for what oil peeps use, as for filters i have a GReddy filter (small one with magnetic filter thingy)

 

Mobile 5w30 or 10w30 will work (a lot use 10w) and just stay away from fram filters!!!

HAMP oil filter(little smaller than stock) and Castrol GTX 5w-30

 

Castrol GTX 5W-30 and Honda oil filter (Filtech) p/n 15400-PLM-A01

 

Ive used OEM before they went to crap, then tried HAMP because it was free, now I'm on Purolator P1's for VG filtration albeit a bit less flow. I also run AGIP Race spec Synthetic 10W60 and burn nothing on track or anywhere else for that matter.

 

are the filtech oem's any good? we used to get toyo roki oem's from the honda dealer here in asia. but recently they switched over to filtech's, guess the toyo's became too expensive

Yep. The good 'ol favorite but discontinued Honda 15400-P0H-305 filter was also a Filtech, also made in USA, and was the factory filter on the '00-'03 S2000s.

Made in Japan, noticeable difference in weight compared to stock ITR filter even though it is the exact same size as stock ITR filter.

 

this is what we get here in the philippines, it's strange that honda would import this all the way from the us rather than source it from japan

Does it matter what year the s2000 filter has to be? OR is it all the same?
