I have a question? My boyfriend has a 1993 del sol and he has an intake and exhaust and we think it is a chipped ECU(He just got it and it is a lot faster than stock and his redline is over 8). But his B-day is coming and I want to get him something for his car??? I dont want to spend over 300 dollars just wondering what I can get for that much that will increse HP?? I was thinking maybe pulleys, or the crankshaft. Just seeing what other things I should get???

 

well if you wanna give him more power you can go with the pulley system or cams, but if you get the cams make sure he doesnt have to change the valvetrain on it before you buy it unless you wanna buy him those too. also does he know how too install these things? because if he doesnt then hes gonna have to pay to have them installed

Yes he can install all that himself. If he eventually gets a turbo does he have to upgrade anything before he does???

 

it depends on his horsepower goals and what motor he has (you didnt specify what kind of sol he has) with stock motors you can get away with i would say 8 lbs tops on stock block and internals if he wants to go more than that he would have to atleast build the bottom end.. hey, if hes planning on going turbo get him a cometic head gasket and ARP headstuds.. that will be less than 300 dollars and a good start remember, take pix!!

 

well, you said his redline is over 8K, so i assume it's got the b16a3......id say get him some ITR cams...I had them for a while and loved em

d16 reving @ 8k.... I guess there is a first for every thing! Im not dissin ive just NEVER have seen that before!!!

 

A del sol SI has a redline of 7200 to start so if its chipped 8,000 + is not hard to see even on stock interals.

lets see how long it'll last past 8k...Redline is at 7200 for a reason. No power beyond that.

 

get him an apexi vtak controller

 

Thats what was weird we took out the computer and its not chipped and he has power over 7200 Rpms thats whats weird about the car. And its MUCH faster than his bro del sol and they both have the same things done to it. and I have a ralliart and I cant get him past my back door.

But I think I am going to go get him the hondata system and make him pay half for it. or a turbo.
Another question if he gets the hondata and the turbo can we tune it our self or is it better to just go get it tuned.

Yeah, he's going to assrape the engine that way.

The D16 on a stock valve train can't handle that.

 

Get him suspension

 

get him a speed governer and a rev limiter.
