Click from front end when in reverse??
Wondering if anyone cal help me, here!!
2001 Honda Civic EX
I hear a "click" noise from the right front end while backing up. It's after I put it in gear and proceed to hit the gas it clicks once then stops. On occasion it happens while going forward - but not as much as reverse. It's only when going straight and doesn't happen while turning.
I've brought it to many different places and receiving many different diagnoses. One said it was the "backup plate" and said they moved it and it still happens. One place said it was the "transmission" and we don't touch those. The dealer said it was the "after market" brakes and it's nothing to worry about. I did get the brakes done a year ago.
A friend of mine thinks it might be the CV Joints, but it doesn't click all the time and not when I turn.
Do I just drive it until something lets go and then I will know what it was?
Any thoughts out there?!?!? HELP!

I have been a Honda Technican now for 19 years. I would have to say your problem would be the front brake pads moving around in the holders very common problem.
To make sure it is this problem you can take out the brake pads and centre punch them where the ends contact the holders(i usely centre punch them 5 times on each end),
this will peen the metal which will make the pads a little tighter in the holders. Make sure you lube them up with moly grease. and lube up the slide pins the less the caliper moves the better. This will usely fix the problem only for a short while. But atleast you have narrowed down the problem.
I hope this makes sence to you and helps.
