My suggestion: How long you think the boot has been ripped?
If you know it hasnt been like that long, you may be able to get away with replacing it if you don't want to replace the axle.
What I would do: If you do not know how long the boot has been like that, replace the halfshaft.
It is fairly easy to replace with simple tools you probably have laying around.
I can walk you through it if you need.

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com lists the new halfshafts for about 260 a piece. You can do the work yourself if you give yourself enough time to do it right. It is not as hard as you may think.
Do it yourself, and save some money.

Here is a general walk through on replacement of the CV axle. * * * * NOT MODEL SPECIFIC* * * * This is just what I know from doing this a couple times.
1. Car secured in the air. Wheel off.
2. Remove the brake caliper and rotor assemblies.
3. Undo the 2 bolts holding the strut assembly and the hub assemblies together.
4. Undo the HUGE nut in the middle of the hub, which holds the CV and the hub together.
5. You should then be able to either unbolt the halfshaft from the intermediate shaft, or remove it from the transaxle completely, depending on which side you are working on.
6. Insert, or bolt, the new halfshaft in place of the old one. In the case of having to insert it DIRECTLY into the transmission, push it all the way in, until you feel it click into place and it will not come out.
7. Replace the knuckle/hub assembly over the splines on the shaft, making sure everything lines up properly.
8. Replace the hub locking nut in the middle of the knuckle. Do not torque yet.
9. Replace the 2 bolts that attach the shock absorber to the knuckle. Torque to specs.
10. Replace the brake caliper, its bracket, and the rotor assembly and torque to proper specs.
11. Torque the axle locking/hub locking nut to specs.
12. Replace the wheel and torque wheel lug nuts to specs.
Done.

when removing the axle, there's a huge 26mm bolt the holds it to the hub. there's a little indentation you'll have to remove with a flathead screw driver and a hammer.
i recommend using an impact run to remove the bolt.

Can't you buy remanned or new axles from the auto stores yet (Advance auto, Autozone, etc) for the 01-05 Civic? If so, I would definitely recommend going that route. Much cheaper than the dealership.
Definitely worth a call. I know when I replaced the axles on my 91 and my 93 Civic, the local Advance Auto had both in stock.

i think so, but i dont think it'd be cheaper then getting those i linked from ebay.
i dont know about OP, but i'd check advance auto if he's in a rush to get his car running with no problems...
