what is best has a bunch of different variables... example

you in this for show
in this for performance
care about wheel weight?
care about forged or cast?

what will your car mostly be used for u know

you in this for show - chrome would be nice, i love chrome for some reason.
in this for performance - yeah, i would like to take it to the track and race with it. That is why i bougth the car.

care about wheel weight? not really
care about forged or cast? not really. What ever won't bend too easily, which probably would be the forged.

Just a peanut gallery opinion, but if you care about performance, then you probably care about weight too.

well you're asking us for advise.you should care. its your car. lol. this would be a lot easier if you tell us exactly what you are asking for. if you're into performance def. might not want 18" rims. but i have a feeling i can see where you're going with this. might want to look into some konigs, motegis, or something along those lines.

i am looking for the same info. i have new 06 Si and was thinking that for performance i should go for 18s but your comment seems to say otherwise. what's the scoop?

here is my perspective. i am just getting used to a front wheel driver having driven 911s for most of my driving past. (my fav was a 03 911RS-but that's another story)
when i am pushing the car into a turn it feels like its pulling me into it and there is some sway towards the front.
i was thinking that a little more wheel (18/7.5) and rubber would help that. also i was planning on getting some stronger springs and shocks and a sway bar as well.
do you agrree with this thining? and if so can you make recommendations?

many thnx

im sure most just feel that a smaller rim is more resposive and a little lighter. im not sure what you mean by you're getting some sway towards the front. are you braking in the middle of the turn? taking corners in a ff is gonna have a lot of different characteristics that midship that you're used to.

i was under the impression that a slightly wider wheel/tire would help on road stability.
no?

yes. well i was commenting on the 17" as opposed to 18". a wider wheel is gonna give more traction.

so u r saying that from a pure performance perspective that the 17" wheels are better and that possibly i should look at wider 17" wheels?

d-d-did i stutta? lol. yes that is my personal opinion and experience going from stock wheels to 18x7.5 wheels to 16x7 wheels on my '02 ford svt focus. look at most race prepped compact cars. not many are running 18s. another plus is cheaper tires.

I like the 5Zigen Pro Racer GN... just wish they came in more colors than Bronze, Matte Silver and Hyper Black. After seeing the STI rims im really starting to like Gold on black or gold on White IMO. At the end of the day its your car and what makes you happy, makes you happy
