I need more electrical power
I have a '92 Accord LX coupe and have a pretty decent sound system set up. My current battery is a POS, that part is clear and i know itll be replaced.
But what i want to know is if it would be a good idea to replace the alternator with something a little more powerful. I have an a mono amp sending 800 watts continuously to two subs in the trunk, and im gonna possibly run a 4 channel to some new speakers im gonna install.
No doubt this will take a good amount of power, that i doubt my car can handle, soo....
What do u guys advise.

well like you said upgrading the alternator will be the most beneficial thing for you to do to save your charging system from overworking. your current alternator i believe is only about 80amps to begin with, which isnt bad but with a bigger system you still may want to upgrade.
a capacitor may also be a good idea for you too to save your battery from the voltage spikes(which make your lights dim when the amp draws a lot of power for a big hit).
i think you may get most of your answers in the audio/security forum though, you may have better luck over there.

BTW, in case you're into speed too, 750 watts equals one horsepower.
Yes, a higher output alternator would help. A capacitor needs to draw power to recharge, it just helps to even out peak loads. It's all a balance between the battery and charging system.
