speakers cut out but subs still work at high volume or when i hit a bump...?! (2 amps)
thats right, on a really hot day if i turn my head unit up past 20 in just about no time my speakers will cut out but my subs still play. same thing when i hit a big bump when up high. i have 1 amp powering the subs and one for the speakers, a couple intermidiate fuses and one right on the battery. what could be causing this?
-a loose wire out of the back of the head unit?
-i've already checked the inserted fuses in the amps
-but not the 2 intermidiate fuses on the speaker wire.
-the one on the battery is good
-something else?
below 20 it works fine, and sometimes when it's cool outside, typically at night, it works just fine (as long as i dont hit a bump)
-i also have a 12 disc and a alpine screen.

could it be one of your speakers are blown or about to blow? if the amp "sees" a short it usually cuts off to protect itself. check your speakers and see the ohm reading from them.
try checking your speakers, make sure none are grounding out. you can also test by disconnecting all your speakers (not subs) from your 4 channel amp and hook up one speaker first and let it play at the loud volumes if it plays fine, add another speaker, until eventually your amp cuts off, most of the times the blown speaker will make it your amp shut off (or go into protection mode).
probably, either replace the speaker or if you can't right away just keep that speaker disconnected from the amp...should solve your problem.
