Default starter went out need help

So the past few days i noticed it took a few more seconds to start the car. Like it would crank an extra 2 seconds to start. So today after work it just woundnt start. Wouldnt even crank. Just clicking sounds. Finally got it to start by beating the starter and putting it in nuetral (its an auto) and it finally started.

Well im just wondering if it is my starter that is causing this problem. So i can get it replaced. Thanks in advance.

sounds like it could be a starter or starter solenoid to me. is your battery at 100% charge?

some autopart stores can check alternator, starters and batteries. I'd take it to autozone and have it checked. I dont believe they can check the starter in the car, though, you will have to take it off your car to have it checked.

btw, if its making that clicking sound is very likely to be the starter.

if it would just stick out and wouldn't turn.

actually you can test the start without much tool.

+ and -, and there's a trigger(connecting both end)

it should stick up and spin

It is probably the starter contacts, they are very cheap and easy to replace; but because you have a TOP SECRET make and model, you can just go pay thru the nose for a new starter.

Giving it gas or not has nothing to do with the contacts in the starter
