Default 240sx w/SR20DET to Super Silvia

I have a 240sx with a SR20DET front clip and I just dropped the engine in it. I want to turn the car into a full on, sweet mother of a Silvia! What seats, springs, ect would I need? I welcome all info at all. Exspecially if you can qoute me prices or show me to a good wholesale vender.

Would you be able to qoute me any prices for the equipment you just listed? Or find me someone who can? Also, would you suggest tring to lighten my car up or should I leave it more street style with stereo ect?

Personally, I think it's a waste or money to get anything but stock stereo equipment. It's just unnessecary weight.

You can lighten that car a bit with aftermarket clutch, flywheel, and even the catback weighs less than the stock exhaust.

If you want me to quote you, then you can email me at PristinePerf@houston.rr.com.

Sounds good. So you wouldn't suggest anything like removing rear seats, changing to a light weight custom dash, light weight windshield, ditching the spare tire or anything like that? Because the whole object of the game is to make the thing fast! However, I am struggling with stripping it down considering I want to make it a semi- daily driver. Any commments?

You can remove the rear seats if you like. It depends on if you're going to be halling any passengers. As for the dash, it doesn't get much lighter than stock. You can go to a carbon fiber trip but that it just for show and is pretty much money down the drain. And with the spare tire, you won't need to take it out unless you'll be heading to the track. No need to take it out for daily driving. Better safe than sorry!

You can boost an S15 SR20DET up to about 350 HP on stock internals so regardless about how much wieght you take out, it will still be a monster.

HA HA! That's funny! I just mentioned a silvia conversion in a reply a little further up and here's a whole topic on it!

As far as stereo goes...you can upgrade with very minor weight penalties, whether u do or do not want a subwoofer. 5-10 lbs. over the stock head unit and speakers (4?) is a fair trade-off IMO, but music is important to me. Maybe it's not for u. If it's gonna be a daily driver, why not, I say.

I'm just now exploring nissans, so I'm no pro, keep this in mind. The back seat in my honda wasn't even worth taking out, and it takes away from the 'completeness' of a street car, IMO.

Spare tire/jack?!? I thought that's what cell phones & AAA was for?

As was mentioned previously...ur gonna be running a turbo...so the weight thing is kinda negligible. Too much weight ? Up da boost!

Quick question, how much does it cost to change the front end on a 95-98 240sx to the 99+S15? A read somewhere a guys said over 10k? That just seems way to high.

you can get the frontend for prolly around 2k.

You dont need weight reduction when the car is a beast.

Now for the 2,000, are you talking engine, or headlights, hood, fenders, and whatever else is needed? Anyone have a site for the S15 conversion onto a 95-98 240sx? Thanks a lot inadvance

$2000 should be just for the front bumper (add labor). It costs around $3000 to do a JDM front end conversion on an Integra and that is just the front bumper and head lights...

I think i found a place that sells whole front clip for 2200 from an S13. I think the S14 is like 2900. I will call them this week to make sure.

That probably includes making it fit and paint. On 240 its pretty much bolt up affair, there is some work but not as much as on DC2

My brother has a 89 240 and just recently installed an s13 redtop into his car. He hasn't been able to drive it though because there is a problem with a spun bearing which he hasn't run into yet. He has some mods on the car currently and expects to run around 13.5 or so. I have heard about silvia body parts being interchangeable but haven't heard any solid information about it. Maybe a s13 front end on the 240 might work but not sure about s15 onto the 240.

In japan they make a fiberglass s15 frontend conversion. I think Vis sells one too, they prolly charge an arm and a leg though.

I think my next project is a 240!

If you are looking for answers about SR20 swaps, and any info you have about droping it into a 240. Go to http://www.freshalloy.com then the forums section. They have all the info you could ever want.

It takes more work than a honda thats for sure. If yo follow the instuctions you can take the motor out in about 4 hours.
