Replacement rockers CRX
I am working on a 90 hf and the rockers need replaced. The only place to get a new one is Honda. Not a big deal! The question is when welding the new one in can I butt weld it? A local body shop said that I would have to cut a piece of the old rocker and weld it in behind the new one. Because of it being a unibody car! If somebody knows it would really help.
Thanks for any info

its not a good idea to butt weld it, if you want to use a used peice, use an over sized piece and trim out the rust on it on the old one, knock the origional one down a bit and weld the new one over the top of it, using a weld through primer
So I do want to reinforce it when welding the new one in. I just wanted to make sure that was the way to do it. He said that he cuts out the old one and then takes a good strip from the old one drills holes in both panels tacks them then welds in place. What could I use for keeping the rust away between the two panels? I have to get new ones every CRX I find has rusted rockers! Also Would I have do the same for patch panels for the quarters?
