Possible to run engine with valve cover off? & Idle speeds - OIL FIESTA!
So i need to determine exactly which of my valves are ticking like no tomrrow. I did my adjustment and they still tick so loud. I wonder if its possible to idle the car with the valve cover off, or how much oil spewage would i expect.
And is there any way i can drop my idle to about 500-600. Cuz no matter WHAT my car idles at 1000 at operating temp. My butterfly is fully closed also. No obvious vacuum leaks.

i wouldnt suggest running the car without the valvecover. you will spill alot of oil and you will get oil where your spark plugs go
I know, my question was HOW MUCH oil would be shooting out past. I have turned on other cars and the oil just makes a look over the cam lobe at an idle, not making a mess.
Itll be messy but not that messy. What i normally do is get a stick and put my ear next to it and hear where the ticking is coming from.
I've started my car before without the valve cover, it was a single cam y8. oil rises so fast and when it gets to the top it just starts splashing everywhere! luckily i turned it off immediately and nuthen happened and just a couple drops of oil but yea i wouldnt try it again or recommend it =/
