Vtec feeling in D series...
Hi, I wonder if any of you guys have opinions about the feeling of the Vtec in a D Series engine (Stock internals). Do you realy feel the vtec like the B-Serie)

you cant hear VTEC with an exhaust on a d series. SOHC VTEC only works on the intake valves.

sohc vtec = more aggressive cam lobe on intake valves
dohc vtec = more aggressive cam lobe on intake and exhaust valves
thats why its louder and feels stronger on a b series compared to a d series.

In DOHC vtec motors, there are secondary lobes on both the intake and exhaust cams. This allows the extra air that is sucked in during the intake stroke to be explelled on the exhaust stroke.
It's basically just more air. Oh and the cams in DOHC motors are much more agressive than SOHC. SOHC = econo engine.

not really in a d series
not really in a d series
it can be heard in on a d-series with an intake but most exhaust systems just drown it out.
its very hard to feel the vtec but the only time ive noticed it "feel" any different is if you're in first gear and take off normally and never really punch it but more of a controlled acceleration up through the rpm band. It is extremely weak though. I cant feel it in anyother gear like that. But who the expletive really does that.
I've heard with an aftermarket cam that you will feel the vtec point but more over stock. but im still on stock internals.

i have a b16a3 with ctr camshafts, stock exhaust, stock intake, you can reeealy hear the vtec open up, then i put a short ram intake on it, and now ican hear it crazy good.... i have a freeflow exhaust system in my garage waiting to go on it next: should be interesting to hear.
oh and ive never ever been able to feel a short ram before, but it really gave some torque or power or something, maybe because the engine wasnt getting the full potential of air to really feel the ctr camshafts or something, im hoping the exhaust bumps the power too.
