ok i have an eg with an h22 swap in it. the motor is built and ive put only about 10k miles on it since built, and i recently been hearing a ticking sound . unfortunately i cant take the car back to the person that built it because he got locked up , and now i have to figure out whats going on with my motor. the ticking sound can only be heard when i am cruising at the same speed but when i accelerate or let off the gas the ticking goes away . i have no idea what it could be . i cant take the car to the shop because i work all day untill all the shops are closed . can any of the exellent honda owners please help me out with this one id really appreciate it.

really have you had this problem before?? because i figured it wasnt the block or i would be blowing smoke out the exhaust. iwill keep that in mind but im also open to other suggestions too

 

Valve adjustment is likely, but it can also be the Lost Motion Assemblies. LMAs are part of the head, part of how VTEC works (they have to do with how the engine switches over to the 2nd set of cam lobes).

Getting a VA/Performing a VA is fast/cheap way to solve the most likely cause, but if it still ticks after that your LMAs may be worn out.
