yall opinions on lightweight flywheels
hey i wanna know if yall think its worth dishing out 200 bux for a lightened flywheel. I want ride comfort, and from what I hear, its going to cause rpm deceleration a little faster, which in turn will cause it to jerk a little higher. Im already dumping alot into this motor, and the flywheel i got is stock, just rebalanced. thanks
Well if you are trying to gain every possible horsepower possible i would definetly buy a lightned flywheel.
Its really hard to lighten your rotating assembly so a lightened flywheel is key when attempting to optimize your setup.
As for driveability its just another thing to get used to, like switching from a stock clutch to lets say a 6 puck, it takes time, but you will get used to it.
Rule of thumb is for every 1lb taken off your rotating assembly you gain 3hp.

well this is not an all motor application, so i could spare 10 for comfort. I just like a smooth ride when im driving normally, as when the race is on I can put up with it. I do alot of driving and my ride is already terrible enough with 40 series tires, and being lowered, im trying to make everything more comfortable. Maybe im getting old or something. heh
Honestly after driving my car with both i no longer notice mine, maybe your problem is that when either you or the car that you were in with a lightened flywheel didnt know how to drive. Learn to drive the car right with the flywheel it has, and you will hardly notice. And lightened flywheels can be had for $120-150.
