Now I'm screwed! (timing belt)
Hey guys,
Damn timing belt broke!
Stock belt lasted 15,000 w/Spec C's.....I knew I should have used the Power Enterprises belt. For those not using it, I highly recommend it!
Was locked in cruise control @ 78 mph about 100 miles from home and it just let go. I was planning to pull the motor and put it into my CX today. What do I do now? Any advice?
This was to be it's new home

Well the car is about 100 miles away @ a Honda dealer. So, instead of having them do the work, I'm gonna rent a dolly and tow it home tomorrow or the next day. When I was stranded on the highway, a nice Civic Si (4th gen w/b16a) stopped and helped me out, gave me and my fiancee' a ride to a gas station
he said, he just couldn't stand to see a fello Civic owner stranded on the highway in the rain. I bought him a tank of gas for his help and he was on his way.
As for the engine, already ordered a Power Enterprises timing belt so I can be ready when I pull the head and survey the damage.

****...It only lasted 15k Miles? That's Ridiculous...
Big primary lobes put a lot of stress on the valvetrain.
Sucks, but oh well...
Sorry to hear about your problem. I have a PE belt if you need one. I can ship it out asap. Email me Jeffna77@aol.com
It's all in how you install it. Quoting Stephen Sakai:
"if you are installing the belt using the factory method YOU ARE INSTALLLING IT IMPROPERLY. The factory method does not work for stiff springed big cammed motors. Stephen S. Sakai steve@sgt-racing.com"
I'd go with the power industries belt in my motor for sure. Cheap insurance if you ask me . . .

so what installation method works with big cams and stiff springs ?. Personally I think stock belts work fine with stiff springs but that is just my opinion, I am refferrig to Jun cams and valvetrain mostly though, dunno about Toda cams. Anyone else have info on this. I know guys that have run 100,000 miles on Jun cams and valvetrain with no probs. Ive got about 50,000 miles on mine. Wish you all the best with your engine Chad, she was a beauty. Hope it escaped with little injury. crossing our fingers.

Did Stephen outline the proper method or any pointer on installing timing belt
on a stiff springed big cammed motor? I did a search but couldn't find any more
information. Thanks

JUN valvesprings are stiffer than Toda valvesprings and I have not heard of anbody have any problems with belt slipping with JUN
Toda lobes are beefier than JUN, Could it be with the cams not the valvesprings?
