What's your opinions on icon?
I'm looking to get a new jacket, and i really like the icon motorhead. minus online product reviews, just wanted to see how you guys liked icon's jackets.

I had an Icon jacket (they're all the same shape really), but I wouldn't necessarily recommend their stuff. I got it because I thought I would wear a white perf'd leather jacket on hot days, and ended up just riding slowly in a t-shirt.
It was too big (even in a small), and I don't think Icon pays a lot of attention to their quality control. For $350 and up, you can get better stuff from Alpinestars, Dainese or even used Vanson stuff.

My room mate got the previous year's timax and it was the biggest piece of trash we'd seen. He pad some inordinant amount of money for it and then realized once he got it that it had no armor. The "titanium mesh" they advertised was really just a couple strands of titanium every other 1/4" which was lame looking. The armadillo back thing draws way more attention than needbe, and when actually riding it folds up funny and looks terrible The wrist and waste adjustments consisted of two snaps so the ability to personalize the jacket to your particular fit was limited.
I personally have never heard anything bout how icon holds up in accidents, but i will never wear their stuff because of the way they market their stuff. I'm not in to the whole "i ride because of the image" thing that they seem to market.

I really like my Icon helmet. It was by far the most comfortable helmet that was avaible at the particular store I was at. However, I have heard generally bad things about their other equipment.

Nothing wrong with aesthetics...weren't you the guy who sold his F4i because he didn't like the sound of the CCT?

I got an icon mesh jacket.....I bought it one size to big is my only complaint and the jacket on the inside is pointless because if you put any thing in it you will lay on it when you lay on tank but besides that i like it.
Icon gloves...i bought mesh ones when i bought bike and after about a month i was like wow i might as well of bought batting gloves....once again not really icon fault i was a new biker.
Icon boots motorhead II....Terrrible buy they are the heaviest boots i've ever worn and the toe is huge, i had to adjust the hell out of the clutch lever to fit under there. Wore them for a week just till i got sidi b2's now they sit in closet.
So now i have bought alpinestars leather jacket and gloves with carbon fiber knuckles and have two arai rx7 helmets. I won't mess with icon ever again personally i think theres just better.

My thoughts exactly. When I think "Icon" I think "Stunna".

Everyone probably knows this, but Icon is owned by Parts Unlimited, who hires someone else to actually make their stuff. So it's not a 'real' clothing company...it's a no-name house brand for a distribution network.

Yea, i definitely sold my bike because of the CCT....
I sold my F4i, not because i disliked it, but because i wanted a vtwin. The F4i was, and is, a great bike. It's unfortunate that they have CCT issues that require replacement more frequently then other bikes. Yes i am sensitive to the way things sound, like a CCT, but it's not enough to make me not want the bike.
On topic: Aesthetically there are a couple Icon jackets that don't bother me. But on the whole i don't like the gear they make because it's too "stunna" as someone said before. I'll also tend to associate icon with the type of people i see wearing it and what i've experience from them. I don't wear roca-wear or FUBU because that's not the image i want. That does not mean people who wear icon wear FUBU, i'm just making a comparison. Because 90% of the reasons i don't like Icon are based on looks, i can't tell to buy or not buy icon. I have no idea what their crash protection is like, so if you like the way their stuff looks, that's fine.

i had an icon neo-daytona leather jacket.
as with any gear get one that fits right. try them on at a store and order online if you want.
the construction was excellent. good thick leather, ce armour inserts. very comparable to other jackets out there. get one you'll wear. If you like the looks of an icon get it b/c a jacket in the closet doens't save skin.
i wasn't a stunter (far from it) i rode to ride.

yea i'll porbably go with an astars. i could try dainese or vanson but i don't know if i'm willing to spend the $$.
so yea any good reviews/experiences with astars jackets?
I searched online, and theres probably about a million for sale so I just want to narrow my search down.

ok well basically my jacket size is 42
i fit well in the astars jackets but the icon mediums are a little loose and the smalls are way too tight
the gloves andboots are awesome though
the field armor fits like crap
ive owned all of it.
so basically if your gonna buy icon, stick to helmets, gloves, boots, and jeans. jackets and field armor suck in terms of fitment

All the people I know that have Icon gear say its complete crap. Their helmets really suck. I had a friend that had the Icon leather jacket with all the yosh and other sponsers on it have a slow speed low side and the seems on the jackets all ripped open.
I don't have their jackets. However I do have their helmets and I have to say Quality Control is non-existance. I have the rubbertone and it started to peel after the first week of usage towards the back. No impact and No abrasion.

That's what you get for letting down your bike with that crappy lid.
Kinda like wearing Kenneth Cole shoes with a custom-made suit, isn't it?

My buddy, who has ridden bikes in some form since the age of ten, loves his Icon Alliance lid. I haven't had a chance to ride with mine yet, but it was extremely comfortable when I've tried it on *shrug*
WHile Icon has a poor image I haven't heard too many negative reviews of their products. It is much better to be wearing Icon stuff than nothing (which at this price point is often the alternative). If you can affor a* or better stuff of course purchase it. However don't be swayed by someones opinion that they think stunna when they see Icon. Then inversely you are still buying into the image of not being a stunna. Buy the best stuff you can afford when it comes to gear, make sure it fits, and do not buy for image.
There are plenty of alternatives that cost the same if not cheaper. You can find very low cost Teknic gear or older model Alpinestars stuff all over the net. Honestly, the majority of people that buy Icon just want it for the looks since they use trendy graphics on their lids and sponsered out "race" looking jackets.
