Default Anyone made door cards?

Hey guys,
Been around the game for a while and seen quite a few Subarus and Hondas running either CF or aluminum door cards. Ive been wondering is it as simple as it looks... ie cutting out he appropraite shape, add some rivets, and call it a day. Anyone with some helpful pointers?

Rich

what is it that you think would make it hard? If you have some c/f plate large enough then just measure it (carefully) and cut it to size. Same for aluminum. If you're wanting to put speakers/arm rests/pw/etc. back on you're wasting your time though (have to check, this is HT after all)

Here is an 92-95 Civic with some door cards I cut. Just used black rivets. The door guts were cut out prior to these going in, they were very light doors. Could do the same with any material really.

Certain racing classes require matching door pannels.

It looks better IMO. From a practical standpoint you use a door card so you don't have a bunch of exposed and jagged cut metal which might cause an issue in an accident. I'm sure the door can be cut clean but even then it's sharp stuff. It would suck in a rollover to have a hand go flopping into a cut door ans slashing something important, like your wrist, lol. Actually the car I did these for was Joe Housleys hot rod car which did in fact roll in Vegas this year due to some suspension problem I think. Never did ask Joe what happened to the cards I made for him.

Use a softer resin and the things would just fold in a really bad T bone accident or just add some internal Kevlar layers and forget about it. If they were like 1/8" thick or more I would have questions but as they are no I don't think you would have a million shards of carbon jamming through your lung or anything. I will have to talk to Joe and see what if anything happened to these in his accident, I'm pretty sure he still has use of his hands

As far as cost maybe I guess that depends on who built them, size, and how they were made. As I'm sure you know carbon stuff varies widely with cost and quality. I don't really wanna push my stuff in the forum but I'd be happy to give anyone a price offline or on PM if you want some built.
