Default O2 sensor

Guys, I just put some headers on my 01 lx, so I had to get rid of my cat. Now my engine is throwing code saying that my 02 sensor is bad. If I replace the sensor will that stop my engine light from comeing on, or am I stuck with the light because I don't have a cat anymore? Also if I am stuck with the light on will it change my A/F ratio due to the 02 sensor? Thanks in advance for the help guys.

You need a Catalytic converter.... or an O2 sensor simulator. You could buy 2 sparkplug fowlers and use them to limit the air flow to the O2 sensor, but I don't know where to pick those up.

And, just so you know, you bought a header (singular) not headers (plural).

It is called a non-fouler from my experience with parts personally.

Hey man,
Okay so you don't have a cat on your car anymore? What you need to do is make sure your TWO O2 sensors are in your exhaust (one in the header or just after it and the other is supposed to be after the cat, but since you don't have one, just put it anywhere after your first o2 sensor), you may need an exhaust shop to put bungs for the o2 sensors in your exhaust if you haven' t already. You'll need to get a Casper's Electronics O2 simulator for your car and put that on the second o2 sensor (the one that is supposed to be after your cat) and then you're good to go. No more CEL and you're car will be happy.

As for driving with your CEL on, your car is just dumping more fuel into your motor so it won't get hurt... basicially it's running rich which isn't horrible for your car, but it's not great and it does hurt power... you should get your CEL to turn off and doing what I told you or getting a cat will solve your problem.

Hope I helped.

OH and one more thing... since you don't have a cat your car won't pass an emissions test/DEQ/I and M. So remember that... I have no cat on my car and what I did was I just have a test pipe (just a strait metal pipe inplace of my cat) with flanges on the ends and then I've got my cat flanged the same way, so when I need to register my car and pass emissions then I just pop that cat in there go do my test, come home, rip it out and magically I'm faster again! When i took out my cat from a universal Catco cat... I gained 5 tenths in the quarter mile! Not saying your car will (mine is 91 with a D15B), but you'll gain a damn decent number and you'll definately feel a difference in the car. Alright, lates.
