rev limiting at 4.5grand
alright so im drivin down taht road. and all of a sudden i hit 4g in second adn i get a bogging/revlimiter feel. so im like shyt. i shift and as long as i stay under 4g im fine. but wtf is it? then i park the car and look at it. still doing it. then all of a sudden i start it back up and its fine. wtf. and then it happens again only this time i kame inside and i wanna know wtf it is.... please help.
yea i have a intake cel cuz my short ram. and i just put a jdm d16a with a z6 head in it- vtec. and im runnin the same ecu. cars been runnin fine for a week. new plugs/wires/dizzy/rotor/cap/ just set timing/injextors r clean. just had a mill and valve job on the head and replaced all the gaskets. brand new radiator. and no leaks. new thermo. fan works.
the car is running in limp mode. you turning off the car is reseting the ecu. thats why it is fine for a little bit. the ecu finds the problem and to avoid damage to the engine limits the rpm's. you gotta find out exactly what that cel is and correct it.

replace ur ecu for a good working one and u should be alright, ur ecu is either on limp mode or u just burned the sucker...

How? Thought u had to pull the backup fuse or battery terminal to reset the ECU?

I've been installing short rams as well as CAI's (more short rams) for just about as long as I've stopped working on big blocks (so that encompasses V6's, I6's, I5's, and I4's, V4's..you get the idea..I have yet to work on a geo to make it I3's) and I've installed a hella lotta them on peoples' cars...and I've never...EVER..had one give me a CEL. I put on on my GTI...and that's just about as tech as you're gonna get. And I mostly use short rams b/c they give u faster throttle response time
and they don't hydrolock and rain in NY is a problem...
So if anything's settin off ur CEL it isn't the short ram intake, unless you have one with a sensor in the arm and you never drilled a bung into the aftermarket arm.
Obviously you're running in limp mode...car's making sure you take it easy so you don't damage it while potentially there's something wrong with it, you have to find out what CEL it's throwing, exactly, not just "it's the intake" - like a code and ****.
Go Here to check your ECU code or go to autozone or pep boys or napa autoparts or advance autoparts (etc.) and have them do a free scan for the code, and tell us what the code NUMBER is. We can probably work from there.
