Default CEL comes on after some maintenance... Need help please

So this weekend I did some normal maintenance. I tried out seafoam after reading the post on HT, changed my oil and filter, flushed out my radiator, replaced a filter/gasket on my VTEC solenoid, and degreased my engine. Now after I hosed off the engine (i did cover my intake and distributor) I let it dry while i replaced all of my fluids and washed the outside of my car. On the way home im getting on the 55 in 3rd gear and need to get up to speed so i give it some gas. The car would not rev past 3k and felt like it had no power at all. I decide to down shift and shift back into third, it revs past 3rd gear and seems to be driving fine. Now im on the freeway and the CEL comes on. So im thinking, great wtf did i do to my car. I get home and shut the car off. Turn it back on and the CEL is gone. For fear that something is wrong i dont drive the car til the next day. Sunday comes around and i start my car and head to my grandparents. No CEL still... that is until i get on the freeway. Long story short, i get to their house turn it off and on again and again no CEL. On the way home it comes back on. Finally jump the ECU and pull codes

17 VSS - speed sensor
22 VTEC pressure valve
43 Fuel supply system

Today I drive to work (about 10 minutes on side streets) and the CEL didnt come on at all. Could i have possibly got some water in the connections that would have shorted somehow and pulled these codes? The car has never ran better after the seafoam so I can't imagine there is something truly wrong. Any advice?

I had those symptoms in my GSR and it was on and off. It ended up being the vtec pressure switch. Never got the other codes tho. just 22

Im thinking the other two were due to a bad wiring harness along with some water getting in there. I replaced the bottom gasket that connects to the block on the VTEC solenoid, but not the top. I will most likely replace that this weekend. I guess only thing i can do is just drive her around and see if it comes on again. Thanks JDM. Anyone else have any ideas or past experiences similar to this?

Low compression. Do compression check.

I love how everyone and there grandma always gives the "Do a compression check" answer to everything.

Q. Hey my tail light is burnt out after I waxed my car.
A. If I were you I would do a compression check.

Hahah yeah. The engine is taken car of and service regularly. The harness was pretty beat up when i bought it and some wires were exposed, but i had them fixed. I'll pick up a switch when i go get some other parts today and just install it this weekend. I'll see how she drives on the way home and see if i have any issues. Thanks again JDM.

What is your solution other than trying to make fun of someone. Obviously nothin.

I had the same problem. I would hit 6000 + rpm's and cel's would pop all the time. 21 & 22. Changed filter, solenoid valve, and switch. Again, cel 21 & 22. Ran compression check....low compression = bad rings. That was my case.

This guy comes on here for help and that is what I do on here. I dont pick on anyone...I keep it clean.

Good luck

CEL went off, problem solved. Must have been some water in the switches.

(3:05 PM 11/20/2006) 17: See. The problem with you is you come on Honda Tech to ask for sincere help and someone tries to help you...you know, gives you a little advice...Then you got *** head that makes smart remarks like that and then you go and act the same way....a *** head. Son...I thought I could be considerate and help the noobsta out but he laughs at me!
You gets no love rookie

Oh and another thing, *17* don't f*ckin' PM me talking **** and calling me a noob. There are plenty of more important things in life than being well versed with Honda's. I don't know everything, but considering my explanation of events and the bad harness its highly unlikely it was due to compression. So go talk **** somewhere else.

For your Cel 43 Fuel supply system that is usually caused by the O2 sensor going bad. I believe you got that CEL when you Seafoam your car. Some of the carbon build up in the engine escape and could of caught onto the O2 sensor and made it bad.

Could some of it burned off and over the past few days and caused the ECU to no longer pull that code?
