Hey Need help with this noise I been having. Every time I take off, be it slow or fast something starts to sound like if its loose and then you hear something either pop or bang. Makes the noise when ever it hits a bump/pothole. Also if Im riding the clutch to ,say inch up to a car while parking or whatever, it sounds like something is going to fall apart. I've checked to make sure that everybolt is tight and they all seem fine.
The car is an 88 civic hatchDX with a newly rebuilt b16 , dc headers , Place Racing Mounts ,Avid Crossmember , S1 Tranny with Kazz LSD and replaced all syncros.
I searched about this and alot of people seem to think that its axles or suspension parts. Well I have replaced everything with new Upper Control arms (all new bushings and balljoints) , new inner tie rods , new outer tie rods, New Rack end bushing, new lower ball joints , New wheel bearings , Energy suspension lower control arm bushings , Energy suspension Sway bar end links , New Axels.
The car used to have a a fully built b16 turbo and it ripped out the rearmount one time , pulled the bolts right off the rear crossmember, so I replaced it with a rear cross member from a 88 CRX HF. Everything bolted up fine but now that I have replaced everything I could think of I figuered I should mention it just in case. Also the car was sitting on jackstands for about 2 years. 3 months before I installed new tokiko Blues with skunk2 coils.
Has anyone else had a problems like this ?

Nope just checked it and my exhaust sits low before I used to think that it was the exhaust hitting the LCA but its not that
how would you describe it more of a sound when you engage/disengage the clutch or a sound that gets more frequent with speed or louder then hitting a bump or a sound thats more frequent with engine speed rpm?
mine does the same thing. i did the rack end bushing and adjusted the rack and it didnt really affect anything. my steering wheel vibrates. i
Sounds like my problem. if i ride the clutch or start out sketchy sometimes the car will make a (thump, thump, thump) sound. never does it though if i hit a bump, only when i start out. the sound coming from the passenger side

Im starting to think maybe its some thing in the diff.
Every bushing is brand new and brand new axles.
Speed doesnt affect the noise , its when taking off ,and when hitting a bump.
also when you ride the clutch and your car vibtrates a little , thats when I hear it a lot too it sounds and feels like its gonna fall apart

I actually started to think maybe I used the wrong bearings or didnt shim the Kazz right but I dont think that would make it sound like this
Anyone ever figure this one out? I'm having the exact same problem. Popping on accel and decel coming from front drivers side. I just replaced the axle and it's still doing it. I also have a b16 swap and it's a 91 sedan. Could it possibly be something in the intermediate shaft? The connection with it and the drivers axle seems a little looser than you'd think it should be.
I have the same problem. I've replaced axles, half shaft, tranny, struts, springs, hubs, brakes, motor mounts and it still does it. Only thing I have not tried yet is bushings and crossmember.
check the bolt that holds the front stuts into the fork sometimes if thats at all loose the shock and for will separate and make a thumping noise. as for the clutch, maybe you have a ball throwout bearing or something wasnt set right inside.
When i get on my car hard then let off i hear a popping noise/clunk too. I too just replaced my axles and went over the suspension. Everything checks out. Im going to get an alinement next week maybe it my traction bar not dialed in properly (fullrace). I too have an lsd and im thinking my shimming maybe off a bit. If i figure it out ill keep you posted and likewise
