PLEASE HELP me sort this out guys..once and for all.
Bear with me, as this might get confusing, at least it does if you have A.D.D! lol
My car is a 98 Honda Civic Dx 5 spd manual.
I'm installing a '00 d16y8 w/25k miles on it in 3 wks. I also bought a 98 ex's ecu and wiring harness. You with me so far? Thats a 98 dx car with a 2000 civic ex d16y8 engine to be installed and I bought a 98 ex ecu and harness. Ok, so far so good.
You're thinking "You can t do that, the intake manifolds are different!" Yes, I know but the '00 y8 intake will work as long as I use the 96-98 IM gasket. (or so I've been told)
Should I just keep the d16y7 wiring harness and add the vtec wires? Would there be any other wires to add? --- or use the 98 ex wiring harness?
Secondly, (and thanks for hold on for this long) my o2 sensor situation is kinda screwy. I'm running a normal primary o2 but my secondary is hooked to a o2 simulator because for a long time I didnt have a cat, now I do. How does this get fixed?
for helping me. Really appreciate it.

First things, first. 99-00 civic harness wil not work in a 96-98 civic. The inerior plays are different. You should get a 96-98.
For your 92, reconnect the wires for the o2, and you are done.

No, the harness is a from 98 ex. (or should be..I just found out this morning that the seller was from Canada. I bought it 2 yrs ago and went this morning to check to see what model its from. Now I need a wiring diagram to see what this thing belongs to)

haha, sorry, somehow I overread that.
I was drunk this morning. About the 02, DX harnesses have the secondly 02 on the engine harness, where EX have it on the chassis harness, you will have to wire up second 02 if you do not want a CEL.
You can tell by the ECU plugs.
OBD2a (96-98):

Those diagrams lost and confused me but I'll take your word for it. So oh ****...how am I going to wire up my secondary o2 sensor with a 98ex harness on a 98dx chassis?

It is in the diagrams
O2 Sensor Input - WHT to D14 (needs to be a shielded wire)
Heater Control - BLK to a5
Sensor Ground - GRN to sensor ground
Sensor Voltage - BLK to switched 12v

why don't you just add the wires for VTEC pressure switch and VTEC solenoid and be done with it. I'm not sure if the 98 DX engine has a knock sensor but if it doesn't you'll have to wire for that too seing the 00 Y8 has one.

After learning my wiring harness is from Canada, and my local honda dealer couldnt ID its part number, this may be my best route.
Anybody know how to wire up vtec and a knock sensor? I guess that means I'll still be using my 98 ex ecu, right?

You can use plugs from the EX harness to run from the VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure switch and Knock sensor to the ECU. Someone correct me if I am wrong but you may have to convert your IACV over to two wire if its 3 wire but the above pic lets you know how to do that too if its the case. Use the ECU pinouts with the red squares for the Y8 even though it isn't listed. You'll also have to remove some pins from the EX harness to plug in for the added sensors.
^ Ok. Sounds like I will have to do the IAC fix AND wire vtec AND the knock sensor.
Hahaha, sorry- but I got another wildcard! My d16y7 is running a y8 intake manifold and I did NOT perform the operation. Its a little mess of wires but I guess the friend who did it already had to deal with the iac issue?
