$5 via paypal for anyone who can help me out with this problem
No jokes! I have a problem that's bugging the f*ck out of me. If anyone can give me any suggestions that solves this problem, I'll reward them $5. It's a cold 14 (IACV) on my b18a CRX. Below is the discription.
Okay guys, I printed out the MPFI conversion from the FYI section (http://www.50mod.com/fourthgenhatch/mpfi.html) here on HT for my CRX DX and did the conversion per the diagrams. At the same time I dropped the B18a in and plugged all the harnesses in. When I started the car up, it was idling hard, and the ecu threw code 14, which is for the Air Idle Control Valve. The thing though, I took two spare IACV's on other manifolds I have lying around and tried them, but that did not help. Baffled! I then went to the junkyard the other day and got myself 3 other IAC valves and to my confusion I got the same results. I'm not convence its the IAC valve that's the problen anymore. Idles reving fast and hard at about 1.5k to 1.75k rpm. Please view all the instructions given on the link above. Were there any other wirings I needed to do?
Any suggestions would help a great deal!

Take off your intake tubing, you will have 2 valves inside the throttle body, put your finger on the bottom valve... if there is suction, its your FITV, which sits right underneath the throttle body... change that, reset your ecu and youre done... no more erratic idle... my paypal address is Drew@CHFschool.com haha

hahaha... wow, the bribe really works! People do respond faster.
Jaydium, does this also clear the code? If it does and it stops the idling problem, I'll throw you your money you earned in the morning, or evening tomorrow when I get out of work. Thanks!
Anyone else have any bright ideas incase Jaydium's wrong? I'll give away Jaydium's $5 and double that to the next person. <U>No </U>Jokes!

i agree that the erra tic idle could be caused by the fitv. You could take it apart and bottom out the white screw or you could bypass the fitv. I don't think the fitv will make the ecu throw code 14 though.
Does the plug on your iacv have a blk/yel and blu wire? I know there a plug left over after you add mpfi wiring to the dx. possibly you could have used the wrong plug.

eda6, how do you bypass the FITV?
It's late now, but I will check on the plugs tomorrow.. Thanks!!

the pins for the tandem valve (dx only) is changed to a FICV which i dont think your b18 has, so it unused.
you should unplug the IAC and test for continuity at pin A11. if not re-trace your wiring
g-luck finished the dx to mpfi and obd1 conversion at the same time on mine. its fun!!!

iat and iacv switched maybe?
also if it is the fitv, you dont need to change it. you need to take off the end cap and screw that little thing in and that will fix it. unless for some reason your fitv is fucked up

Thank you guys.. I am getting out in 2 hours. Can't wait to get working on the diagnosis. But don't stop. Keep the suggestions coming!?
my paypal is still slackin from you haha....
the code should clear once you reset the ECU... lemme know if you have more problems, i like getting 5 dollars per knowledge! haha

Oh yeah.. funny how you said that maybe I got the iat and iacv plugs switched. That was exactly what I did the day I thru the motor in. I extended the wrong plug and extended the one for the IACV instead of the IAT. It kept throwing both codes out, so my brother soon figured out that the plugs were identical, he switched them, and wallah! Now it's just the IACV code flashing with the irratic idling problem. But good catch CivicKiller!
Okay, so the rule was that I pay the person who gives me the correct information to fix the problem. I got carried away when I then later said that I was going to double up after Jayduim if he was wrong. But $10 is it... I'm not that rich, but I'm frustrated enough to give away $10 to anyone <U>ONLY </U>and when my problem is fixed and my code is clear and I have a normally running car. I can't wait to beat that SH*T down the block.
Alright, back to work!! But Jaydium, don't worry! You're first on my list. I'm working down the forum.
