hello everyone, im running ctr pistons on my 98 gsr, just want to know if I'll be OK if i go for stage 2 cams, is there a risk to piston to valve clearance?....i heard the clearance is like you can fit a nickle through the pistons and valve when its TDC?, is this true?...

We're running a similar setup in our hatch. We got CTR pistons in our GSR block, head milled .040 and Bullfrog cams and were running fine. I would clay the motor and see how your clearences are though. Every setup is different.
The shop I go to regularly has run a P72 block with PCT pistons, PR-3 head with JUN 4 and Toda C cams and had PLENTY of clearance. Mind you, this was with a 3 layer head gasket, head had never been milled before either. BTW, this car competed in a past Super Street Time Attack event in the past and actually did quite well for a N/A mild tune setup. They did however, CLAY the motor first to find out that there was plenty of clearance.

I agree. If you're too lazy to research, then you shouldn't get the cams.

I don't know what method they used. My definition of plenty of room though would be that Dough is still thick enough to hide the piston dome.

for your information, .050" intake and .080" exhaust are fairly tight yet safe clearances. measureing this with clay to any degree of accuracy is not so easy. indicators and check springs are much more consistent.
