1990 accord oil
OK, the last two accords I have had a 90LX and 89LX both suffered from rod bearing failures right after I got them. I just recentally acquired another 90 LX iand the oil is very brown and think owner says he had 20w50 in it. I want to switch to 10w40 but dont want it to knock. should I stick with 20w50 or take the risk with 10w40. car has 229,000 on it told bottem end and head gasket was done.

I wouldnt change the oil, that 20w50 is prob. holding it together.
