I have a B16A1, my question is... Is a Girdle really nessesary?
The motor will be over 400hp.
There is also the question whether it should be a 3 point or 5.
Who knows this solution?
Why not just pick up a GSR short block and build that with the b16 head, expecially since i have never been to a junk yard that has spare GSR motors just laying around.

Is it nessesary or not to have the girdle?

Well here is the thing, a shop is going to advise you to do something if it generates them profit, now i am not trying to be a smart *** when i ask what they had to say, its just an honest question.
What i would try doing if you already havent, is do a search and see what people with sleeved b16's do when it comes to bottom end support aside from main studs. Even try pm'ing Earl or some of the engine builders on this site and ask what their opinion is.........they will answer your questions, even if you are not paying for their service, thats what this site is for.

And if you did do a search and all you found was for sale **** try searching under post bodies and limiting your search to forced induction, i did this and i got one answer that seemed somewhat informative
"a b16, it has a very short stroke therefore its not needed. why do you think the gsr and type r come stock with a girdle? its because honda took years and years of development and finding the weak points and correcting them. the reason an LS doesnt have one is that its only designed to rev to 7200rpm so its not needed"

Absolutly NO need for a girdle on a b16. short stroke and a well balance will do you just fine to 10k. IF you really want one then dont mess around with a gsr one because that invlolve lin boring and all sorts of gay **** to make the caps work properly. go on ebay and get a KMS 3 main girdle. its superior to the gsr one and its only 140 bucks and will bolt right in on any b16 or ls main caps
I was under the impression that anytime you install a girdle in any block that didnt come with one from the factory(or a 5main girdle in one that orginally came with a 3 main), it is necessary to aling hone the mains. Any truth to this?
