question...
i previously owned an ek with an h powerplant, but unfortuneatley it got stolen
.....i want to start a new project, and quick. boost has been catching my attention latley, but im still a huge fan of the NA setup. I know b series motors love boost. i was wondering if anyone can offer direction on which motor i should look into for turbo set up. what b series motor is ideal for boost. and if i were going with an all motor setup, which b series motor would i go with? any input would be great thanks.

But to answer your question, I too say B18c.

The truth is the B18C1 is a great boost motor, but if you want one that will love the boost even more go with a nice LS motor. They will run a solid mid 13 with stock internals. This is a great deal for people who want to go boost and do not have the $$$ to build the motor for it. Just run it at 9-11psi on it and you will be done.

Yeah because when you boost the GS-R engine at the same boost level they make a good deal more power than the LS engine, so that's BAD now?
Before anyone can give you a good answer you need to tell us how much money you really have to spend on this.
crvtec's advice is only half true.
True in that the LS is cheaper, but not better for boost than a GS-R.
True in that a boosted stock LS can run mid-13's, but in what chassis? I'd be pissed if my boosted LS ran that slow. People run mid 13's on lightly modded GS-R engines and stock Type R ngines making anywhere from only 170-185whp.
True in that 9-11psi is a safe boost level on sotck internals, but he mentions nothing about the most important aspect of boost - TUNING.

well, im looking to spend around 8k on engine work....the chasis i have right now is a 93 eg hatch. light car can do great things, which is why im contimplating between boost and na. do you guys know an NA seteup with a b series motor that can do some serious damage on the streets?
You can do a lot with $8,000.00 for sure. You could do a nice boosted stock internals B series swap, or a nice N/A build provided you're doing most of the labor yourself in terms of teardown/build-up.
Define "do some damage on the streets" because everyone's definition is different. I think a consistent mid/low 13 second Honda can do some "serious damage" but these days some people think more like 11's.

what i meant by that statement was kick *** hahaha. im looking to run low to mid 13's.....is it possible in an eg??? and if so, should i go with b16 or b18? to be honest im more of an all motor guy, i was only considering boost because its the quickest way to gain hp.
