This has happened to me twice so far. I would have searched for the problem if I knew how to pinpoint it. I have a D16Z6 in an EX. Today I started my car and it made a deep air pocket in the manifold sound, almost like someone popped open the manifold really quick and when it happened the RPM's fell and the car almost died and at this time the check engine light came on, but turned off afterwards. It only happened for about a second and a half, but, this is the second time it's happend. My engine though VTEC does not seem to have VTEC working, I can tell from power difference in high RPM's compared to many other friends' D16Z's. I still have yet to check it, though it's a strong theory. Anyways, getting back to the manifold, if anyone can pinpoint this problem, I'd appriceate.

 

timing belt is really loose or really old/stretched.

 

No, timing belt is perfect tension and I just changed it like, one and a half months ago...

 

retrieve that CEL and that might tell you where too look for to find the problem.

 

Well, the check engine light only stays on for about a second and a half then everything just goes back to normal
