Default are h1 bulbs better than h4 stock bulbs?

do they shine brighter. I know they are smaller. I got the one piece headlights from tyc for my 93 civic and it uses h1 bulbs, and the light dispersion and brightness is really good. Is it because it uses h1 bulbs or is it because of the design.
I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the tyc headlights for a 97 civic, but they are pretty ugly though. But if they light up like my 93 civic headlights, then it is worth it. My other choice would be to buy the gunmetal headlights from ebay that resembles stock that uses 9003 H4 bulbs and get some silverstars. How would the two headlights compare in brightness? thanks

Ew.............

*slap*

Just use a decent H4 bulb like Phillips Vision Plus or Osram Silverstars (NOT Sylvania). Also, Polarg MaxClears are really nice.

you don't understand how badass my lighting is with those tyc headlights. I have the silverstars on them, but that's not the reason. On the highway, with a bunch of cars, a far distant road sign would light up just because of my car, regardless of everybody else's car. if i turned it off, the sign turns dull again, so its definately my car. On a totally black road with no lights, the lighting is really good too. Is it the design of the tyc? or is it the h1 bulbs?

You don't understand how gay projectors are. They're brighter because they're a foglight bulb. Also, in a projector, there is no diffuser.

US-Spec Sylvania silverstars are coated to give a bluish color.

Euro-Spec Osram silverstars are not coated, and thus give off more light.

To be fair in a 97 Civic there's no real diffuser to speak of. Just 3 little prisms across the meat of the lense, the rest is just a simple projector.

That's one reason I traded my 96 Civic in for a 97 Del Sol - the "crystal" headlight design, introduced with the 96 Civic, simply drove me up the wall. Couldn't see frickin' anything at night unless I had my high beams on.

It shields the bulb from vision from the front, thus diffuses the light
