Default question about my 02 civic motor

I am needing a d17a2 motor and I happen to find :

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

.....It looks to be for an automatic (from the look of the fly wheel) and I have a 5 speed trans. Will this engine work with no mods other than taking off the auto flywheel and replacing it with my man. flywheel? I older auto honda engines had alot of vacuum hoses and the intake manifold was different. Would this engine work for my 02 civic without interchanging alot of stuff? Thanks Justin

Nothing else would actually bolt right up without extreme mods and money.

All you would have to do, assuming you car is already a manual, is to put a clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, and pressure plate on that motor, and you are set.

It is a DIRECT bolt in on an 02 Civic EX. If anything other than an EX, you will need a few things to have VTEC. But yeah, it is a straight shot with that motor.

EDIT: DO NOT!!!!!! Buy that particular motor. You will be very dissapointed.

Here is another link for the d17a2, this will work better, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

From about $250, check out http://www.car-part.com.

Yes, the post above covered it, just remove the torque converter, bolt on ur flywheel, clutch and pressure plate and don't forget the pilot bearing and you're all set.

I dont see why that motor would not be good motor. It has low miles and a minor broken part that can be removed off my blown engine. I'll let you know if it was a bad buy.

what he meant, its a bad motor for trying to make power from it (ie. boltons, turbo, etc.)

if you're going to swap that in, and keep it stock, its a very good, reliable engine.

you could probably use the transmission in the car right now on the blown engine, considering its not in bad shape...

A MINOR part? it was a mount stud. You cannot replace that to my knowledge... What are you going to do? JB Weld it?

I don't believe we have studs for the mounts anywhere, they're all bolts....

That STUD sticking up, there should be 2 of them. There is not.

A nut will thread down over that stud, holding the mount to the car chassis.

I am going to take the mount off my old engine and put on the new engine. Not a big issue. I just recieved the engine last night. I'll let you know how the swap goes.

i bet if you use 1 bolt, that should be enough, there's more mounts to keep the engine secure, so it should be fine.

Yeah, but that's a pretty thick piece to break. Makes one wonder if it was dropped off a forklift or something....or lifted out of the original car by a forklift.

Hopefully it will be ok.

I would know if the engine fell off the fork lift cause the oil pan is aluminum and that thing would have slit realy easy. Who know's how that thing broke but I do know it can be replaced off the blown engine. Should be a easy fix.

probably when lifting it, it wasn't held right and it probably snapped right off.

Ahh, those studs...I knewe that lol.

As for only having one stud, you can remove the mount from the motor you're taking out and put it on the new one. There are like 3 or 4 bolts that hold it to the block. It has to be removed to replace the timing belt anyways, and that's something you might want to consider before dropping it in anyways.
