Default Hybrid CRX problems

I just finished my friends B16A swap into his 88 CRX DX and there are a few problems. The main problem is the driver side hub and suspension jitter back and forth as the axle turns. Today we replaced the axle thinking that maybe it was bent but when we put the new one in it did the exact same thing. I was wondering if it was possible that we could have somehow bent the hub or something of that nature. Could the intermediate shaft be messed up? I didn't really think that it would be the intermediate shaft because it turns smoothly, it's only when we plug the axle into the hub and intermediate shaft that it gets bad. It also seems to go away or be less noticeable when the car turns left. The other minor problem is sometimes at idle and while he's driving the engine seems to stumble like it is running a little rich or lean. I've swapped MAP sensors several times and it they all react the same. I have also set the TPS to 0.5 volts at idle. Anyone have any clues about these two problems. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

for the 1st problem...have you checked the lower ball joints...if they are really bad they will cause the front knuckle/hub to wobble (until it breaks and causes worse damage)...with most high mileage swaps i always make a point to get new ball joints b/c of the ease to get to when you have to remove the lower one anyway and have the axles/engine out to access them...when a ball joint fails it drops the suspension causing bad damage

as for the 2nd problem...it could be a bad o2 sensor

When i did this swap i didn't remove the lower ball joint. I normally just release the top bolts that hold the entire knuckle up. If it still were the ball joint would it shift back and forth when the axle is turning with no load on it. It moves if you turn it by hand or if you run the car in gear and let the motor turn it. The problem to me would be that some how the hub is bent where the axle goes through cuz of the amount that it moves and the way that it moves. Also if you happen to know on the JDM B16 harness which O2 is the primary the one with the green connector or the milkish white connector. When i rewired the harness I put the one with the white connector in pin C18 which is the primary slot and i ran the green one to C8. Thanks for the help.

first , did you change the hubs to 88-up Si? if not the integra axles will not fit into the hub. if you kept the dx hubs and made some bunk *** hybrid axles, most of the time i've seen them too long and they wobble. the other condition is your tps wires are mixed up, when you do the dual point change over you gotta switch the two outer pins on the tps. thats why the input and output signals are switched.

bunk is a sweet word. if you think the o2 sensors may be switched, just switch them...

I am using DX hubs and I had no problem fitting the integra axles. Now I have some brand new hybrid axles and they fit perfectly. The Standard and HF hubs are the ones that are different.

DX and SI hubs are one and the same thing. It is HF/STD hubs that are different. One problem that you could be having here is that the axle and/or intermediate shaft is too long and is binding slightly. This is a common problem if you are using unaltered 1990-1993 Integra axles. The solution would be to use a 1990-1993 Integra intermediatr shaft (if you are using an SIR intermediate shaft) and to remove the inner joint from your 1990-1993 Integra axle and put it on a 1986-1989 Integra axle.

i think he means the dx civic hb with the 4spd manual...it had the smaller axles just like hte hf crx and required 5spd dx or si hubs...the 2g crx dx only came with the larger si sized hubs and 5spd manual

as for what axles you are using...always contact the mfgr of your mounts for the proper recommendation...hasport has a page that explains what they recommend for axle setup

Swapped the O2's and everything seems to run a lot better motor wise. The hub still shakes tho and i used the DX hubs. Like everyone else said they work fine. Thanks
