ok so mine is bad and i needed a new one so i got it and now what i want to know it after reading my shop manual bassicly all i have to do it unbolt the dizzy take it out take the old ring out and any left over sh*t and then coat the new one in oil and stick it back in right or is that not right the shop book also says to start the engine and set timing whats that?
Its had to throw off the timing by removing the dizzy unless you have it 180 off. take off your cap and mark where the rotor sits, ensure that you put it back the same way (it only goes in one of two ways right on or 180 off).
before you unbolt the dizzy also mark where it sits, a line from the bolt across the mount will work make sure you get both the dizzy housing and the head area to ensure proper line up when putting it back on. That way when you reinstall it you can line it back up (kind of like marking your hood before removing it).
if you do this then you will have it back to where it was when you removed it.
good luck
