crank positioning on DA

how do you know that your number 1/4 piston is at tdc?.. i need to redo my timing because my timing belt broke.. andi have a new head so i dont have to worry about anymore bent valves..

What I do is take a long thin stick and put it in the the Cylinder 1 spark plug hole, then turn the crank and set it just before it goes down when you turn it counter or clockwise.
You can also set it by the timing marks on the crank and the timing belt.....just really user preference on how you want to do it.
On the cam shafts toward the end by the cam gears...there are 2 small little holes that line up perfectly fine with the cam shaft camps. When those holes are lined up on the camshafts and cam caps, the cam gears will be facing UP. You can put a alen key or a pin in there and it will prevent the camshafts from turning when you try to set the belt on.
You can also set it by the timing marks on the crank and the timing belt.....just really user preference on how you want to do it.

hehe thanks but thats how exactly we did it last time, but unfortunately i couldn't mark the timing belt and crank pulley beacuse the timing belt snapped..
just seein if there's aeasier way to do it. but ohw ell i'll just use this method again
