Stereo Reset Question
I have a 02' RSX Type -S and got my battery changed at Autozone today, and everything worked fine, until I tried to turn my stock cd player on and noticed the time was flashing and when i hit the power button the display said "Code". Does anyone know what this means and how I can reset it so I can use my cd player. Thanks for the help.
you need to enter your radio's code before you can use it. this is an anti-theft measure. if you lost or dont have your code, dont fret. open up your hatch, and look near the handle, the part along the hatch that cannot be seen from either inside or outside when it is closed. there is a sticker there with a 5 digit code: this is your radio code.
I theory all of the above posts work, <U>if the origonal owner put the sticker there</U>. Yes when you could by an RSX new it came with a card and a sticker with your radio code on it, it was up to the owners discrection to put it somewhere. I bought mine used and in my case the original owner was a jackass and failed to do so I learned the hard way because my Acura dealer didn't give me my card.
First try these places:
Under the dash
on the sides of the glove box
in the hatch, <U>any where in the hatch</U>
Under the fuse box cover under the hood
behind the fuse cover in the car
on the bottom of the hood somewhere
anywhere under the hood
According to Acura these are popular places to put a sticker.
If this fails then they will tell you that you have to leave your car at the dealership and they will have to pull the whole dash to get the cerial number off of the back of the radio and charge you 120 dollars (What they told me). This is complete bullshit.
How to get your radio cerial number the easy way:
Pre #1. Have a pen and something to write on.
1. With the key out of the ignition hold down the 1 and 6 preset button.
2. Insert they key into the igniton and <U>crank</U> the car while continuing to hold down 1 and 6 the whole time.
3. If the radio is off or does nothing then hit the power button
4. 2 sets of numbers and letters should appear across the display
-- Put those 2 sets of numbers together and that is your radio's cerial number.
Take the code that you got from the radio and your VIN to an Acura dealer and they will or should give you your radio code.
Any questions = PM

Had a similar problem - though my dad just called the dealership, and they told him the RSX has 3 codes they commonly use, and gave it to him over the phone.
The car was originally bought from Pohanka Acura, but when my dad called there, they refused to give it out. Try Rosenthal Acura in Maryland; they'll probably help you out.
