My question is what is the smell that i am smelling when im flooring it. A smell similar to a carbonish smell comes into the cabin of my car when i really floor it all the way to red line. this smell only comes when i engage into vtec. Any answers would be appreciated. Does it have something to do with my head, block, or something i am completely unaware of. thanks to anyone who helps out

i think it acutally does have something to do with that. its due for a serious tune up. i need to get a new fuel pump, water pump, timing belt, o2 sensors, plugs and wires. a good 700 dollar tune. I might even buy some new injectors or have them cleaned.

Whoa man,
don't buy a fuel pump or injectors. Just new plugs, wires, rotor, air filter.
Maybe run some injector cleaner through the system and get some sea foam. Injectors and fuel pump are fine I am sure.
What year milage car? which engine?

ok well i will scratch that but that injector cleaner is not nearly as good. You can have your injectors taken out and cleaned for a good price and they work almost as if they were new. New injectors do make a big difference and i think you are right that the smell might be coming from the injectors. i just think there is not enough fuel going into my engine. the air filter i got a new k&n filter on my cai and it made my car run alot smoother

not really, a while back last summer it was burning oil when i gave it gas, i checked the dip stick, almost bone dry even though i changed the oil pretty recently at the time. I instantly put more oil and then got an oil change that day. since that day it hasnt burned oil at all almost. you may see the ocassional blue when i hit vtec near 7000 rpm plus but besides that i almost never see oil being burned, not even when i have let other friends drive my car while i drive theres. no oil is being burned and there are no leaks what so ever. The smell is does smell like gas ocassionally. Im going to get my tune up done and if the problem is still there then ill post again.
Hondas run rich in VTEC to avoid detonation. Haven't you ever noticed the big black cloud of smoke puff out the exhaust when it goes into VTEC? Preludes are notorious for that. That smoke is unburnt fuel. Every car has a smell when you floor it. If you don't believe me, drive behind a friend and have him floor it. You will smell it come in through your vents. Your car is perfectly fine IMO.

Yeah, I get that fart smell when I floor it too. I just recently put an intake on my Wrangler & get that same smell (trust me, it wasn't me). I thought it was because I put a breather on their engines to vent the crank case. Hmmmmm.....tomorrow I'm peekin under their hoods after I floor it......

when was your last tune up? and how many km are on your car? ive had many friends ask what the smell is when it hits vtec so i am trying to clear it up. could it be something to do with the pistons rubbing on the cyclinder walls? or something to do with the head? i think my compression is perfect though. last test i did it was
