Default grinding when i shift

hey. i got my 94 accord about 2 weeks ago and when i shift from 2 to 3 it grinds. im thinking its cuz im going straight towards third instead of up and to the side. i wanna get a short shifter soon. do u guys think it will fix the problem of this grinding

everytime i go diagonally from second to third. but if i take my time and go up and side and then up, it doesn't

i dont think its ok to shift diagnolly because its not proper. its better to shift regularly like some of us do. just shift smoothly up, right, then up.

This sounds like a worn syncro problem. The reason it does not seem to do it when you deliberatly shift slower up, across, then up is that gives the innards more time to stop moving as the gears are engaged.
