Can I use this oil in a SI tranny?
if youre not going to move the car at all or drive it you can start the engine with an empty transmission.
it does not have to have any fluid in it if you are not moving it.
10-30 or 10-40 will work ok, but i'd highly recommend getting some Honda MTF.
do not use 80-90 gear oil.

Yeah 10w30 or 10w40 will work... But The Best Thing To Do Is Put Half A Quart Of Lucas Transmision Additive And Fill The Rest With Penzoil SyncroMesh... You Can Get Them Both at AutoZone... Your Tranny Will Be Smoother Than Ever...

I swear by pennzoil synchromesh. I used to have grinds in EVERY gear until I used it. Now I have none. My tranny has other problems now, but grinding is not one of them.

My D series tranny took bout 2 quarts of the penz syncro, but imo it seems it helped take away my slight 2nd gear grind when i first got the car, but soon after i had a leak from it being a tad thinner then the 10-w40 so i switched and it seems thicker, the 10-w40 that is.

maybe. I'd still be a little worried about starting it because everything in the transmission would still be turning. Metal on metal contact with no oil is probably not that great...

If your just starting it, throw some motor oil in it to be safe.

sure, 80-90's fine
the gear oil is rated much different than motor oil, 80-90 is close to 10-40 motor oil in thickness, and anyone who has a real diff in the car has to run 80-90, its more than adequate
