Default Rear Drum Knocking While Slightly braking

it sounds like someone knocking on a door... i just replaced the shoes/springs to see if that would cure the problem and it did nothing.

it only happens when i push the pedal 50% of the way down.. and it's a fast knock knock knock

but when i press firmly on the pedal it goes away. WTF?!

any help would be great

Did you put the springs in the right way?

Did you turn your drums? Have you adjusted the parking brake?

hmm try this....Jack the car off the ground, take the wheel and drum off and have someone apply the brakes while you turn the assembly. Try to see if you notice anything rubbing or bouncing, also have you checked your struts cause theyll also make a knocking sound....Give a try and let me know the outcome.

i've tried something like this with the drum off and nothing is rubbing/making noise... makes me wonder if it's the drum itself?!

Also the car is on brand new coilovers as well as every arm/bushing in the rear suspension is new and aftermarket... it's def. coming from the drums under low braking.

Get yourself a couple of new and good quality brake drums(I preferably like brembos) and it'll take care of the problem.

it sounds like you have shot down everyones idea. If you feel it is the rear brakes and not something else, just rplace the rear drums and see what happens.

didn't shoot down ideas. . . just tried everything everyone suggested besides replacing the actual drum housing.

Looking for someone to say... "yeah... try that.. that's what it should be.."

thanks
