88 crx dx help car is revving high then just dies.
hi all I am new to this board and was looking for some help.
I hope to add some new stuff to this board as well as learn many things from it.
I drive a 88 crx dx.
ok here is the deal:
I have a d16a6 motor in my crx with a dpfi intake on it with the dx distributor I had the mpfi but could not get it to work, so i got it working with the dpfi last night i was driving it. and today it revves high but does not stay idle, and it will just stall.
I have no air filter on the car at all could thta be my problem? The car was throwing a code 15 yesterday so i changed the distributor and the car was working fine, then it just went all wack today. should i check the spark plugs? or the fuel filter or could be bad old fuel " the car has been sitting since october and i just got it started last night" or it just could be that i need an air filter cause there is nothing there :0

I think the gas is the problem
been sitting for about 8 mts on same old gas. maybe needs a regulator? fuel pump? gas filter?

what you need to do is get rid of that old gas and get a new fuel filter. these two things, above all else, are probably what will make the most diffreence. they are also relatively cheap fixes. and if they aren't the problem you need to do these anyway and now thats two things you can scratch off the list.
I have a couple regulators sitting around. how can i change all the gas? dissconnect the gas line and pump all the gas out into a bucket? it would be hard but would work unless ou have a better method.
And where is the fuel filter located?

the fuel filter is a little round jar looking thing that is most likely either black or golden. it sits on the firewall towards the passenger side about 6-8 in from the fender well. and you dont really have to drop the fuel tank and empty the fuel. just go fill up with some decent gas and toss in some of the injector cleaner.

oooo so the fuel filter is that thing that has the fule line goign to the injectors? and another incomming one from the firewall?

Okay I changed the fuel filter and I checked to see if the fuel pump was working and its fine . The car still starts and does not idle. the ecu does not throw any codes.
Dose anyone know anything elce i can do? I tried to adjust the trottle cable.

somone just told me that a dx intake might not work with an 1.6 si head and block
