Default 2 Subs + Amp - Which ones to buy?

Keep in mind this would be under budget of <$1000 including install/wires/box.

1. What amp would be suffice to power two Alpine Type S 10" subs?

2. What other subs are in the price range of those, but maybe
better or cheaper?

Any other recommendations on what to get for a decent setup?

a good MTX mono block amp would be great. they arnt too expensive and they kick the crap out most subs. i dont really know how much those type s's cost but look into JL audio. they make some great subs.

OK remeber this is cdn dollars. Ok for about 800 you can get:

concept dclass amp 1000 watts
2 pheonix gold dual voice coil 12" subs
4 gauge wire 15 ft
remote wire
RCA's
fuse holder
fuse
battery attachers
sub wire
3/4" mdf for making sub box
cocking
screws

and everything but the cd deck

Wire this to 1 ohm and itll pound. These are nice cause:

a. light
b. inexpensive
c. pound ***
d. look cool
e. use small air space so fitable
f. 3 year warrenty

Make your box with the correct airspace and do sealed boxes with these subs.

Goto andres electronics in burnaby and thell set you up.

His choice of Alpine Type S's is an excellent cost effective one that will pound out some of hte most accurate bass there is. I would not sway from it. If you want to save some money, get the MTX amp. An amp is an amp and honestly, you can't tell a difference between two of hte same wattage. Just some of hte cheaper ones will start to overheat, but not the MTX thunders. If those S's are dual voice coil, wire them into a 4 ohm load (wire the coils on the sub in parallel and then wire the subs in series) and then connect them to the bridge terminals of the mtx mono block. If they are single voice coil, run each sub straight to a channel on the mono block. Either way, that will thump and you will still have some padding in your wallet to buy whatever else you want.
