4th Gen. Rear Brake Conversion.
I'm sure most of you have notice the lack of oem sized rear brake rotors for all fourth gens. (relative to other, more popular vehicles). I was wondering if anyone has taken the time and parts to convert the rear brakes on a 4th Gen. to front calipers and rotors. Is it even possible? Can you keep your e-brake? And What kind of performance does it yeild from the braking system overall?
You do not want to go any bigger on the rears. That would really expletive up your brake balance...I have not even had my rear brakes connected for a few years now and I don't really notice it (not saying it's a good idea, just FYI
).
There are plenty of OEM sized rotors for Ludes...I don't know why you can't find any. I have Brembo drilled OEM size on my rears.
Also if you did put front calipers on the rear, you would totally loose the e-brake...it's a completely different type of caliper from front to rear, the rear being more complex.

Well here's the thing. I work in a muffler and BRAKE shop so you would think I would be able to find some drilled rear rotors right? But no; even with all the wholesale catalogs I have access to (Brembo included) I can't find anything for the rears. I should probably mention that I drive a non-vtec 4th Gen. But I even called Brembo and they said they didn't make them. But just because you work at a company doesn't mean you know everything about it. This guy may have just been too lazy to look them up. Anyway, I have a set of Brembo drilled and slotted fronts and I just want the rears to match. I've found the regular, non-drilled/slotted brembo rears but nothing else. I've looked everywhere. Can someone give me a link where I can buy the drilled/slotted rears?
Oh man, there's TONs of them ebay. I got mine from the H-T classifieds in the Performance section...I believe I got them from StopChek.
usually if you find brembo crossed drilled or slotted for the rears they are brembo blanks that someone has modified with the drilled or slotted.

So? You'll need to replace the fronts more often anyway so why not just have a spare pair onhand?

Size doesn't matter. I just want cross drilled and slotted. I know autozone has plenty of replacements but they're just... replacements.

I've heard these aren't the safest choice. It compromises the structural integrity of the rotor. They tend to crack... Can anyone back me up on this?

For some reason I didn't think of this. Good idea.
