notice the rubber around the edges. how bad is this? i know the person i got it from was using it before i got it. so what does this part do? replaceable? what needs to be done?

 

Looks like the diaphragm got pinched in the cover.If its not cut you should be able to still use it.Just make sure its not pinched under the cover when you reassemble it.The diaphragm is available but only comes assembled the the aluminum center.I'm not sure the price.

 

does anyone know where i would purchase a new diaphragm? im not sure i want to take the risk.

what happens if the diaphragm rips?

 

anyone know how to take apart the WG to replace that section?

 

my tial on my 400whp hatch had the same thing, went to change out the spring and who ever messed with it before guess put it on wrong....mine holds 19psi just fine....if it isn't ripped or look real worn use it

my 38mm tial was exactly like that brand new right out of the box. it's a good thing i took it apart to inspect it before hand. i just peeled it back and carfully re-assembled it and it's been perfect.

yours might work alright but it looks like its starting to fray where its been pinched. call tail up and see if you can get a replacment.

 

if that boot rips, you'll most likely overboost. That rubbery boot is a balloon that fills up as you boost and opens the wastegate.

 

i purchased a tial 35mm diaphragm before and it cost $50

 

My 44 was the same way out of the box. To pull it apart there are 4 set screws on tne center part. Take those out and then there is one more under the diaphram.

 

Replace that man look at the ends either there burnt or ripped from the diahram tring to go up and it binding.

Just take the waste gate off in the exhaust chamber u will see the shaft is like a hex use the approite wrench and put it threw the exit hole and hold it then the top nut remove or in ur case remove the 2 allen screws and then it will come apart.

Looking at urs i think all u need to do is remove the ale bolts and it will come apart just remeber when puttign it back put the shaft in the same postion

 

Seen this happen before when u put it back together put the top on loosly like leave a 1mm gap and blow with ur mouth on the lower vacum line then tighten it up the diaphram will go up in the top hat and will not get pinched
