Alright, first off, I just bought all of this for my hatch, ive never had a radio in, much less a very nice sound system(was a race car). Im not an idiot on audio but am no expert by any means, FAR from it. Heres the setup:
Alpine 7977 head unit (hand me down from a friend, sounded great in his car)
Arc Audio xxk2100 (for components)
Alpine spx-177r
Arc Audio xxk1500(for sub)
Arc Audio ARC 12d2
alrighty, now heres my question. My sub amp has the option to bridge channels and has a mono feature. What the hell is the difference? Is the power output going to be the same? Im overpowering the sub anyway and will have the gain down regardless, just want your opinion on which way to set it. The manual says to plug both RCAs in for mono mode, and only the right RCA for bridged.
As far as wiring, I bought everything from knukonceptz and their products seem to be high quality.
Im going to deaden the doors with raamat and other parts fo the car with whats left(starting with 2 rolls)
thakns for the help, heres a pic for views

i know its not related to the topic but i'm not sure if you had planned on it but i would strongly suggest you install the speakers in custom kick panels. I've got the same speakers and the difference between on and off axis response is huge.

i was thinking about it, as i had played with them on my room stereo. however, at the current time im just going to get some mdf rings to space them out and give a solid mounting surface.
i was also told by fcm that i wont get the speakers full range if i mount in kick panels

Bridging is using both channels to drive both sides of the load instead of driving one side with the other connected to ground (single ended). Bridging provides 4x the power of running single ended into a specified load. Mono means that the amp takes your stereo signal (left + right) and mixes it into one, so both of the amp channels get the same signal. With your setup, I would suggest you connect each coil of the sub to its own channel and set the amp for mono. Or if you don't feel like running 4 wires from the sub to the amp, connect the coils in series (on the sub), and then run the amp bridged. Either way you will get the same power output.

gotcha, so if there will be no difference in power, which will provide cleaner sound?

Well i'm not entirely sure what he's basing that off of but if he would care to explain i'm all ears.

i didn't tell him they would not play"full range" I told him the f3 down point would be higher with the woofer in the smaller cabinet

I think he's saying simply that with less airspace behind it, the woofer will produce weak low-end. A kick panel doesn't provide much airspace. I say low-end, but with a bad enclosure you will hear the difference all the way up through the midrange.

yeah thats what he said, i just suck at explaining what he said.
i plan to put them in the doors, but do some mdf mounts for them as well as deaden the doors correctly

The sound clarity would be the same from either configuration.

believe me when i tell you that kick panels are well worth it. you wont have the same bottom end from the compnents but from the midrange up will be vastly improved.

ill keep them in mind. im going to just try them in th stock location first, kick panels take up a bit of footspace and making them would be my first time
