Most definately just take a whiff of both of them. the diff starts there.
In my own cars switching from generic to honda fluid made a definate difference.
and no you don't need to jack the car up

those usually take about 3. But 3.5 is possible. Buy 4 to be safe.

I recommend jacking the car up and using jack stands. It will make it a lot easier, unless your name is Gumby. Don't rely on the crappy jack in your spare tire well. Also, change the crush washer.

I bought 3 quarts of Honda ATF-Z1, but I only needed about 2 2/3. By the way, I have a 6th gen, but it looks like you have a 5th gen so it could be a little bit different.

Do you say jacking it up makes it come out faster? or just to access the drain plug? I'm gonna try it tomorrow what do u guys recommend emptying it into?

No. Jacking the car up makes it easier for you to get under it and unscrew the drain plug. Empty it into anything that holds 3+ quarts. A 5-quart ice cream bucket would work.

I would jack it up to make it easier to access the drain plug. I am too fat to slide under there, and I don't think there are many that would be able to fit under there. The oil pan you can buy from Autozone or Pepboys so you won't make a mess, and whatever you do, don't dump the old fluid in the trash (Look up a place that will recycle it for free ex. most local quick lube joints). While you are at the auto parts store, you might want to pick up a funnel that has an extension to make it easier to add fluid along with some shop towels.

Also, like I said before, don't trust your life with the spare tire jack to do this work. Use jack stands. If you don't know what you are doing or have not done this before, I highly recommend you do this work with someone that has experience, althought it is pretty straight forward. A friend of mine helped me out.

Yes. ATF. Do a regular ATF change (drain-refill), drive the car some (I think 50 miles), and repeat 2 more times. I remember reading this somewhere, but can't remember where.

you should do it three times in a row for a "complete" flush, kind of oxymoron to say this since you can't really completely drain the AT without a rebuilt.

3 quarts at the stealership will run you 5.58 per quart, so a total of $16.74 and $1.77 for the crush washer. Including shipping from Ebay, I highly doubt you will save a whole lot.

The fill, drain, re-fill 3x is the correct way to do it, but I plan on changing the fluid again at my 60k maintenance interval (I'm at 42k now), and then every 15k afterwards. Even from changing it this first time, the difference in how smooth the tranny shifts is unbelievable.

Finally, don't get your tranny powerflushed. Our tranny's don't respond well to power flushing; drain and re-fill only.

I wouldn't say they don't respond well to tranny flushes. I did tranny flushes on mine a few times with Honda ATF and it was fine.
