HELP! Is this a good buy?
"JDM Y1 trans with a New quaife in it. The trans has about 23,000 miles on it and needs a new 3rd gear syncro other wise its good. The quaife only has about 2,000 miles on it and works awesome. PLus the trans comes with all the Hasport mounts to do the Hydro to Cable conversion. These Trans sell for about 600 new and the Quaife sells for about$895 new so this is a good deal. i am asking 1,300 or best offer for it if you are interested please make an offer, i will consider all offers"
1) What is a JDM Y1 trans vs a USDM ITR trans?
2) What is the hydro to cable conversion all about? Sorry if that is a lame question, I really have no idea..
3) How much will it cost to fix the synchro? I would have to take it somewhere, I can't do that kind of work..
4) What should I offer?
I'm not particularly looking for a new tranny but if this is a good deal I might jump on it..
Thanks ITR guys.

Isn't a USDM Tranny w/ a JDM 4.875 final slightly faster than a JDM Tranny?
The USDM is a Y21 and has a lower F.D. (4.40) but shorter 4th-5th? Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Replacing a synchro isn't cheap, it's a ton of labor. $500 if you're lucky.
And I've never heard of that cable conversion either.

JDM tranny come with cable clutch line. Any 92 and up honda and acura vehicle come with Hydrolic line tranny. So, to fit a JDM tranny on a USDM vehicle you must convert it to hydrolic. Hasport offer a kit to convert it. I wouldn't buy a busted sychrone tranny, too much hassle. Plus it not hydrolic in the first place. Go cheap and you will pay later.
