was wonder if anyone knows where i could find instructions on how to replace a head gasket on a 1993 civic dx hatchback, motor is d15b7. im sure any civic head gasket replacement would be similar. lmk thanks.....i did a search and couldnt find, maybe didnt search hard enough, but if you guys can help, that would be great. thank you.

 

take your valve cover off then unscrew the head studs then get a feww people to help you lift and then grab the dowel pins...

 

dont you have to do something with the timing belt and distributor?

 

This is not an easy task.

You should buy a manual for the car, like a Chiltons or Haynes.

You need to remove the timing belt from the cam gear.

Removing the Dizzy helps in removing the heater hose under it.

Tip for the timing belt. Set the engine up on TDC. To lossen the timing belt tensioner use 14mm socket and back the bolt out of the plastic cover until the bottom of the head is just below the plastic cover. Don't pull the bolt all the way out.

You'll want to have the head checked for flatness by a shop.

I hope you have a good set of tools and lots of time.

It gets easier as you do it. A friend and I can get a b18 head off and on in about 30mins. Running in an extra 10. This is with hand tools too.

 

so just timing belt, distributor, valve cover, and heater hose, then the bolts for the head? is that it?

 

by telling him to remove all the **** connected is an insult i think he woulda figured it out...
