Default B16 swap into hf, engine sitting crooked ???

I just dropped a b16a into my 88 hf chassis, but the engine sits crooked. It looks like the passenger side mount needs to come forward. The thing also is sitting much higher than I remember it sitting in my 89 Si. The original hf engine I pulled out sat straight though, so I don't understand it. Anybody know what's going on?

B series can't be dropped on D series engine mounts, you need to work them.

Which brackets have to be fabricated? I definately think the passenger side one, and possibly the front one, but can someone clear me up on this?

you need a whole mount kit, you can't use any of your stock mounts

The engine just came out of a CRX, and was mounted properly, so it should have CRX compatible mounts. That's why I'm confused.

Not to be pissy to a noob, but;

Go to Barnes & Noble and pick up a book or two on Honda engine swaps! Then READ them.

It's money well spent so that you don't end up buying something you don't need and also so you know what you do need.

he said the motor was in another crx so obviously it has b-series mounts unless it wasnt bolted in correctly then.

OK, he said the engine came out of a CRX, but he didn't say if he got the mounts with it. He didn't say if it was a first gen CRX or second gen CRX.

There is something that isn't being said, without knowing it's importance.

what kind of mounts are they?

and of course the engine sits higher...with some mounts you even have to trim the hood to get it to shut,,totally normal

Maybe the crx he pulled the b16 out of had the passanger side chassis mount moved and rewelded for b-series.

is the B series mount adjustable? i know the D series.... you can change the angle on pasanger side slightly... dont rmemeber which bolt crx is on other side of town otherwise i would take a photo. you losen it.... angle the engine properly. and tighten it up? not sure why i would be at at an angle... how bad is it?

oh and guys just STFU and if yoru going to talk ****, and not even read his whole post... just dont even post. just help the ****** out :D half the post on this forum are just guys being ********... because they are better than everyone else. so do yoru self a favor, buy a gun. and help the world a lil more

I don't think anybody has been overly shitty in this post.

It's just a matter that some things can't be answered without seeing what he did.

In theory, he should have no problem if he was swapping from the same vintage CRX. But something went wrong.

If he pulled the engine and the original CRX is still sitting around, he could compare one engine compartment with the other. That's pretty much a no-brainer.

My guess, and that's all I can work on due to not knowing the specifics as to how it went down, is that somebody else pulled the engine/transmission and then sold it to this guy. He was told, and believed, that it was complete and from a CRX. Some sellers have been known to lie in order to make a sale.

Magik211 hit the nail on the head . I couldn't compare engine compartments becasue after I pulled the engine out of the 89 Si, I had to sell it to make space for the 88 hf. I had to go by memory on what the old engine compartment looked like, and I remember the passenger side bracket looking as if it had been moved, but I wanted to check with you guys before I started hacking my mounting bracket apart.
