Disabling 2000 Accord EX factory alarm...
After searching, I've seen many that want to do the same as I, but there's never a definative answer.
So yeah, I'd just like to know if there's any simple way to do so. I installed an aftermarket alarm (just leaving the OE alarm in and connected) in my friend's 2000 EX a while back, she moved to Cali, and now her factory alarm is acting up (going off at random times, etc.). I don't know whether the factory system is arming (passively if the OE system can?) or whether she's just getting some weird signals which are triggering the panic (it never did it up here while she was in Oregon), but it goes off sometimes when she unlocks the door with her new security system.
I've looked at a 2002 V6 EX that I have up here just to see, but it doesn't appear that there's any "security" fuses which we could pull for an easy fix. What's the next easiest route? Thanks!

The factory alarm will not arm by itself. It WILL arm, however, if you lock all the doors with the key, with the lock switch on the door, or by manually pushing the driver's door lock down (since doing that will lock all doors...). If the factory system is armed when the aftermarket alarm disarms and unlocks the door, the factory alarm will go off. But if you ALWAYS let the aftermarket alarm lock the doors, the factory alarm should never arm or go off. (My car is setup the same way, with the OEM alarm still connected.)
Now, if the OEM alarm is randomly going off for no reason, the OEM control box is probably on the fritz. I'm sorry to say that I do not know how to permanently disable the system...

Cool thanks for the info... I didn't think the OE system could passively arm, but I just figured I'd ask. And the initial plan was to just leave the factory system unlocked (leave the OE remote at home), then ONLY control the door locks, etc. via the NEW aftermarket alarm. But yeah, something is wacked and causing the factory alarm to go off.
If anyone else has any insight as to disarming the factory system, that would be great. I just didn't f**k with it at the time because I heard it's integrated into the driver side door panel controls, and didn't feel like rippin' all of that **** apart. Now my friend lives 1000 miles south of me, and I can't just fly down to take stuff apart! haha!

The OEM alarm in my 99 EX goes off intermittently when all doors are locked. Door & trunk contacts appear to be clean and have no shorts. 2 different dealers said the control box is probably bad, or it could be a short in the driver's door. I don't feel like paying for 4+ hours of diag. time plus the cost of putting in a new control box, so I usually leave 1 rear door unlocked. Risky, yeah, but I'll take my chances. If I could just disable the alarm and still keep remote lock/unlock capability, I'd settle for that.
FYI - the keyless remote WILL lock all doors, but hitting it twice no longer sounds the alarm like it should (and did, until around the time I started having problems with the alarm). Makes we tend to agree on the control box idea.
